On this 8 day holiday, visit a unique elephant sanctuary where you will get to feed and play with elephants! Stay on a traditional house boat in the iconic backwaters of Kerala. Witness a mesmerizing Kathakali Dance performance and watch the enrapturing process of the artists’ make up.
This tour commences from Cochin every Saturday between 01 October 2016 and 31 Mar 2017 and is a guaranteed departure for a minimum number of 04 travelers.
Cochin – Periyar – Kumarakom – Alleppey – Mararikulam – Cochin
Day 1 / Saturday. Arrive in Cochin
You will arrive in beautiful sun-kissed Cochin. You will be welcomed, assisted and driven to your hotel by a private chauffeur-driven air-conditioned car. Check into your hotel. In the evening, proceed for a magical sunset cruise.
Day 2 / Sunday. Cochin
During your morning sightseeing tour of Cochin, visit the Jewish Town and Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening, witness a performance of the Kathakali dance form and watch the riveting process of the paintwork on the artists’ faces.
Day 3 / Monday. Cochin – Periyar
In the morning, drive to Periyar (approximately 3 hrs driving time). En route, you will visit the Elephant Junction. A 1.5 hours session with the elephants includes a 45 minute elephant ride, bath and showering, a photo session and feeding. After your experience with the elephants, check into your hotel in Periyar. Afternoon will be at leisure.
The Periyar National Park is located on the hills of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park surrounds the vast Periyar Lake. The park has one of the richest habitats for large mammals, as it provides both cover and food in the form of shoots and grasses. It is possible to see large herds of the Indian Elephant. There are more than 30 species of mammals and very rich birdlife including the Great Indian Hornbill.
Day 4 / Tuesday. Periyar – Kumarakom
In the morning, take a boat ride on the Lake Periyar to watch the wildlife come to the shore to drink. In the afternoon, visit the lush and aromatic Spice Plantation and later drive to Kumarakom (approximately 3 hrs driving time). Check in at the hotel.
Day 5 / Wednesday. Kumarakom – Alleppey
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, proceed towards the world famous backwaters of Kerala. Board your houseboat and sail through the languid backwaters. Lunch and dinner will be on board the houseboat. A candle lit dinner can also be organized if you wish, transpiring into a truly magical evening.
Day 6 / Thursday. Mararikulam
After breakfast, disembark the houseboat and drive to Mararikulam (approximately 30 minutes driving time). Check in at the hotel. You afternoon will be at leisure on the glorious beach of Marari. Sip fresh coconut water and enjoy the caressing breeze of the ocean.
Day 7 / Friday. Mararikulam
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Today is free for you to relax, unwind and wander around at your own pace – the perfect way to culminate this journey
Day 8 / Saturday. Mararikulam – Cochin Airport
Morning transfer to Cochin airport to board your international onward flight.
