Take a stroll down the Kovalam Beach, trek through the forest of Thekkady, or reap the benefits of age-old yoga and Ayurvedic healing. A holiday in Kerala is the perfect getaway from the humdrum of life.

This tour succinctly showcases the best of what Kerala has to offer. The cultural capital of Cochin is known for its performing arts. Munnar is a must visit for any traveler, nestled amidst lush and vast tea plantations. And of course, no visit to Kerala is complete without a stay on a traditional houseboat in the iconic backwaters.

Day 1. To Cochin

Departure from your home country to Cochin.

Day 2. Cochin

Arrival Cochin in the morning and then on in the afternoon will be at leisure to settle in and relax. Enjoy a sunset harbor cruise, if the tide is conducive. Watch the local fishermen with their intriguing Chinese fishing nets at work. Two nights at the Old Harbor.

Day 3. Cochin

Morning sightseeing of this beautiful port city includes visits to the Mattancherry Palace, Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica and the Jewish Synagogue. Afternoon at leisure. Witness a spectacular Kathakali dance performance in the evening – arrive early to watch the actors applying intricate makeup.

Day 4. To Munnar

Revel in a wonderful scenic drive to the astoundingly beautiful hill station of Munnar. Explore the vast fields of tea plantations, pristine valleys and forest-clad mountains. Two nights stay either at the Windamere or Ambaday Estates.

Day 5. Munnar

Morning excursion to the Eravikulam National Park in the Western Ghats, home to the largest population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Afternoon visit to a Tea Museum to learn about the history of the traditional ‘cuppa’.

Day 6. To Kanam

Drive to the peaceful and secluded Kanam Estate. Swim in the delightful pool, take an optional guided walk through the rubber plantations, and enjoy an Ayurvedic massage to feel truly refreshed. Two nights stay.

Day 7. Kanam

Spend your day with the hotel’s elephant, helping the mahout to feed, bathe and scrub. Being so close to such a magnificent animal is a truly unique experience.

Day 8. To Kumarakom

Morning drive through the gorgeous and lush green countryside to Kumarakom. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the Coconut Lagoon.

Day 9. Houseboat

Spend the day gliding over the backwaters in a traditional rice boat converted into a houseboat, locally known as Kettuvallam. The waterways are the lifeblood of the area; local commerce revolves around them. The backwaters are also an ornithologist’s paradise – look out for glorious multi-coloured kingfishers. Overnight stay on an air-conditioned houseboat.

Day 10. To Cochin

Cruise along the backwaters until the evening. Disembark and drive to Cochin. Overnight at Courtyard Marriott Airport Hotel.

Day 11. On the final day

Departure for your home country.
