FACTORS TO CONSIDER

Firstly, Gulmarg's facilities are not comparable to most international destination resorts. We have an incredible mountain in the most precipitous winter climate in the Himalayas accessible by a 1330 vertical metre gondola. Gulmarg continues to be a pioneering resort in an exotic location with no commercial trappings or winter holiday crowds.

Secondly, Mt Apharwat's upper slopes are best suited to advanced and expert snow riders. Travel outside the main patrolled bowl should only be undertaken with avalanche safety equipment and should not be undertaken without due experience and/or caution, including observance of Backcountry Avalanche Advisories posted by the ski patrol.

Thirdly, Operational hours of the upper gondola (above mid-station) are subject to weather and safety factors. Depending on the weather and windspeed the upper gondola can be expected to remain closed for much of the first day following a significant snowfall while the ski patrol undertakes avalanche monitoring and control work.

Fourthly, All guests joining visiting Gulmarg for Skiing must have a valid travel insurance covering this sports activity. Our guides are approved by the department of Tourism to conduct Skiing in Gulmarg but we take no responsibility for any injury or death caused during your holiday.

You must have comprehensive medical insurance before booking the holiday.

RISK WARNING

Snow-sports and in particular ‘off-piste’ snow-sports in the Himalayas expose participants to obvious risks including death or personal injury arising from a variety of factors including but not limited to:

  • Avalanche danger
  • Collisions with other skiers and snowboarders
  • Attacks from wild animals (monkeys, bears, snow leopards)
  • Traffic accidents while travelling on mountain roads (as a vehicle driver or passenger)
  • Collisions with visible and hidden obstacles (fences, walls, power lines, tree stumps, holes, cliffs)

This risk warning is provided to you on behalf of all principals, employees, and agents of Indus Discoveries Pvt. Ltd.
