Nubra Valley is a valley located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located on the banks of the Nubra River and is surrounded by mountains. The name "Nubra" comes from the Sanskrit word "nabhrah," meaning "deep." It is also known as the "Valley of Flowers" due to its many flowers and plants that grow here.

Nubra valley, situated on the northeast of Ladakh is one of the most picturesque valleys just about 120 km away from Leh city. The valley provides with scenic views of ginormous mountains, barren landscapes, deserts, monasteries, and rustic villages. Nature has bestowed Nubra with scenic beauty in abundance. Whether a tourist, seasoned traveler, biker, or photographer, this valley gives you enough reasons to get dazed, charmed, and mesmerized by its natural mystery.

Day 01 - Arrival Leh

On arrival at Leh airport, our office representative will meet and greet you outside the airport terminal building, and transfer you to Hotel Bodhi Tree.

(Leh is surreal landscape surrounded by the sky-piercing peaks of the snow-capped Himalayan, Zanskar and Karakoram ranges, and adorned with crystal waters of the Shyok, Zanskar and Indus rivers. Leh is the main city in the Ladakh region, one of the coldest deserts in the world, perched at a height of over 11,000 ft above sea level.)

Take an afternoon walk in the Leh market to get feel of where you are.
(Leh Market dates back to 15th century, the era of King Singe Namgyal. The Market today is one of the main attractions of Leh City)

Day 02 - Leh

In the morning after breakfast, leave to explore Spituk Monastery also known as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa, a Buddhist monastery. It is situated on a hilltop; it was established in the 11th Century by Od - De. The word 'Spitok' means exemplary.

After that visit, Gurudwara Pather Sahib - where Guru Nanak Dev ji, founder of the Sikh religion is believed to have conquered a demon.
(Legend has it that once Guru Nakak ji was meditating at this place and a demon had thrown a big rock to obstruct his prayers but the boulder turned into soft wax that failed to harm him, seeing this the demon asked for penance for his deed and Guru Nanak ji forgave him. The boulder with the imprint of the body of Guru Nanak Dev and the footprint of the demon is on display in Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. Albeit, the area is known majorly for Buddhism but Gurudwara Pathar Sahib is equally worshipped by anyone who visits this place. It is maintained by the Indian Army.)

The next stop will be Magnetic Hill - the place where gravity takes a backseat.
(It is a gravity hill located near Leh. The hill road is actually a downhill road, objects and cars on the hill road may appear to roll uphill in defiance of gravity when they are, in fact, rolling downhill.)

Day 03 - Leh

In the morning after breakfast, leave to visit Shey Palace - the 3-story palace, once the residence of the royal family.

After that visit, Thiksey Monastery - Located approximately 19 kms from Leh City, Thiksey monastery is famous for its 3 story Maitreya Buddha’s statue and the architectural resemblance of the monastery to that of Potala Palace of Lhasa in Tibet.

The next stop will be, Hemis Monastery - a Tibetan Buddhist monastery (gompa) of the Drukpa Lineage, in Hemis, Ladakh, India. Situated 45 km from Leh, the monastery was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal

After that visit, Stok Palace - It houses a museum containing an interesting collection of exhibits including the King`s crown and ceremonial dress, the Queen`s turquoise headdress and other jewellery, some Armor and a set of Thankas dating from the reign of Tashi Namgyal
(Stok Palace is the reflection of the glorious days of Namgyal rule in Ladakh. Dating back to 1820, this top place to see near Leh is almost 200 years old. Stok Palace marks the final phase of the evolution of fortified palace residences characteristic of Indus Valley or Singey Sangpo region.)

Day 04 - To Nubra Valley

In the morning after breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass - It is one of the oldest motorable passes in India and the world. Located around 40 km away from the Leh city, the famed pass is one of the top attractions in Ladakh. Opened in the year 1988 for civilian traffic, it is the gateway to the Nubra valley.

Crossing the picturesque villages and valleys along with Shyok River, you enter the vast uninhabited hinterlands. You will now see flatland landscape and a few kms ahead, you reach the famous Diskit Town. Here visit, visit Diskit Monastery/Diskit Gompa – the 106 feet tall Maitreya Buddha to have experience of the soothing sounds of the mantras and breath-taking view of the Nubra valley from the top of the monastery.
(The monastery was founded by Changzen Tserab Zangpo in the 14th century and is situated on a hill above the plains of Shayok River. This monastery belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism.)

Later visit the Hunder Village that sits like an oasis in the middle of cold desert in Nubra Valley. Located 7 km from Diskit, Hunder Desert is one of the most photogenic places in the world. Bactrian camels are another attraction here, and you can joyride on them through the sand dunes witnessing the changing shades of sun rays, reflections of the same in the rugged mountains, hanging fluffy cotton balls like clouds in the unbelievably blue sky, green vegetation that paints the most fascinating pictures of nature.

Day 05 - Nubra Valley

After breakfast, leave to visit Turtuk Village - located on the bank of Shayok River. Turtuk is home to around 300 families, who live in this ‘border village’ right on the boundary of the Pakistan-administered region of Gilgit-Baltistan. The village houses a Balti Heritage Museum, showcasing the Balti culture and this village serves as the gateway to Siachen Glacier. This idyllic village also houses the Royal Palace.

Day 06 - Nubra Valley

After breakfast, leave to visit Sumur Village – largest village in the Nubra valley for its main attraction

Day 07 - To Leh

After breakfast, check-out hotel and drive back to Leh.

After breakfast, check-out hotel and drive to Leh airport to connect your flight back home.
